Disc Review (Assumption): Music Morsels

Posted 21 Apr 2013 in News, Reviews

As reviewed by Musicmorsels.com Slow Burning Car – Assumption Trifonic Records The third CD from L.A. fivesome Slow Burning Car invites you to crank up the speakers from the first power cords and driving rhythms of lead track “The Ghetto And The Sea.” Kind of like STP on a Ramones trip with just the right touch of Alice Cooper-ish glam hooks, this is music that simply rocks…hard! However despite the influences, they craft the songs so it does not make you feel like you are hearing something that sounds like everyone else out there these days. Perhaps it is that unique combination of retro sounds with a modern feel; “Dimples” for example sounds like it could have been a...

Highwire Daze Magazine Live Review of 4-12-13 Roxy Cd Release Show (By Ken Morton)

Posted 17 Apr 2013 in News, Reviews

Slow Burning Car, The Roxy Theatre, April 12, 2013 It was a Friday night at the world famous Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip, and rock and roll was about to enrapture the room presented by some pretty terrific local acts. Slow Burning Car was in attendance, presenting a record release party for their third magnum opus entitled Assumption. One of most vastly underrated bands in Los Angeles, Slow Burning Car unleashed an explosive set that really impressed the longtime fans while surely gaining some new converts as well. Opening with The Ghetto and The Sea, the first track from their brand new album, Slow Burning Car continued to rock the house out with their dynamic musicianship and super catchy...

Assumption Album Review from RoughEdge.com “Assumption” (Trifonic Laboratories; 2013) Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton – RoughEdge.com “Assumption” is yet another fine example of Slow Burning Car’s grab bag style of hard rock’n’roll. You could almost copy and paste my previous review for “Vol. 2 – The Scattering” to review this CD. Not that they sound so much the same, but both CDs have enough variety, enough weirdness, and enough undeniable talent poured into them to make them interesting from first track to last. There’s everything here from Foreigner-type radio hits to tracks that sound like the drug-induced instrumentals of the Doors … and let’s not forget the final track which is basically a one-minute Gregorian Chant like those heard in a Monty Python movie....

Disc Review of Vol.2 by www.musicartery.com (3/11)

Slow Burning Car -Vol. 2 – The Scattering (Self) Surprisingly diverse and sometimes challenging to define, any thorough audition of this full length release will both amaze and delight a wide demographic of appreciative audiences. Lyrical content song by song tends to range from epic sci-fi literature and cinematic favorites to staunchly political anti-establishmentarianism to still further remote genres that explore the collaborative interests and talents of each band-mate. This writers favorites include the first two tracks which appeal to any sci-fi lore master; “Adama” references themes from Battlestar Gallactica; “Ghola” references various concepts from Frank Herbert’s Dune series. In general, this album takes a listener on a swift yet provocative ride through various styles from crooning ballads, righteous indignation, and all-together glorious and...

Vol.2 Disc Review – www.heavymetalbuzz.com Dec.2010

CD Review- Slow Burning Car- “Vol. 2 The Scattering “   Most the time when I put in a CD to review it can take days. (I like to listen while driving). Once the CD starts up each day I know exactly what band I had in the player. I can not say that for  Slow Burning Car. This band is influenced by many bands and genres of music. Some songs have a good hard rock beat, move into a jazzy rock sound and then like the song “Siren” had me thinking someone slipped a folk rock cd into my player. Let us start from the first song “Adama”. This songs starts the cd off with a great Toolish , alt sound...
